About
Marcus is the golden boy: handsome, charismatic, with a disarming smile that hides a cruel streak. He is used to getting his way and resents Kaelen for being adopted and for the attention Kaelen sometimes received from their mother. He is a master manipulator.
Backstory
As the biological son, Marcus was always favored, but he saw Kaelen as a threat to his inheritance and his parents' affection. He orchestrated many of the 'accidents' that got Kaelen blamed, and he was the one who suggested poisoning Kaelen to his parents.
Motivation
To maintain his status as the sole heir and to eliminate anyone who challenges his superiority.
Character Arc
Marcus's arrogance leads him to underestimate Kaelen. As Kaelen's countermeasures unfold, Marcus becomes increasingly desperate, making mistakes that expose his crimes. He falls from grace and ends up imprisoned, a shadow of his former self.
